Our History The Latina Center was established over ten years ago with the firm goal of supporting women’s leadership to uplift communities in the Bay Area. With a flagship program of Latina Community Women’s Health Leadership (LCWHL), The Latina Center has made strident efforts in improving the welfare of Latina women and their families. Through skills-based training, social support, access to local resources and community mobilization, countless lives have been forever changes and their effects far reaching. The Latina Center’s family violence prevention and intervention program began as a direct response to the much needed existence of a culturally appropriate, Spanish-language support group. With great success, this program eventually expanded to include community outreach. One of the many unique and influential aspects of The Latina Center’s program is the recruitment of domestic violence survivors as community educators and health navigators. With passion and relentless dedication, The Latina Center continues to expand its mission of women’s empowerment through mental health promotion, youth and senior programs.
